Getting started - how do I search?

I just set up a user account.  When I search for any torrent at all all I get is an Amazon advert and a blank screen.  Even searching for something obvious - still nothing.  What am I doing wrong?:'(

You can get more results by selecting the status of All.

If you search for open office though, you should see results anyway. Is that the case?
