Hello,

I may have asked this years ago and forgotten...if so, I apologize.

Is there was way to import torrents which were not created specifically for legittorrents? For example, I could create a new torrent for LibreOffice, but the developer releases each version with a torrent.  I would prefer to just add LegitTorrent's tracker (at least in my client), and perhaps also see if I can add a webseed to the file (not sure if that's possible). This may sound impractical (why not just go to the dev's site) but it might be nice to add things like this to the LegitTorrents library. Besides, this proves file authenticity, since the file hash is automatically matched to the one the developers released.

However, any external torrent which I add is automatically hidden from LegitTorrent's list.

Is this just activity which is not wanted, or is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

Hey David,

Good question. I don't know if the web seed will show up correctly right now, so that may be the issue. You can certainly add our tracker to the torrent, but if I remember correctly you should not try and "run" that torrent before uploading it.

I think that is because the tracker will reject the request since the torrent file does not exist here yet, and may continue to reject it.

Hopefully this will all be straightened out in our new site version sometime soon.

Well, that is exactly the problem.  If I take someone else's torrent, and add the Legittorrents tracker, it gets flagged as "ext" and permanently hidden (since the torrent is already active) in this directory. Then if I start up my torrent client and try updating the tracker, it shows an "unregisterd torrent" error and refuses the connection.

As for webseeding, it's a nice thing I like to do to support the torrent, since I cannot always seed via client dependably.  If I can't add that, it's ok. Chances are, I'd be adding a torrent already supported by hundreds of other peers and seeds.
