Hi,
I have some CC-licensed video torrents which only exist as magnet links.
How would I go about adding them to this site?
Thank you! |

I tried http://magnet2torrent.com/ to get a .torrent file and get "Error: Announce is empty!" when trying to upload it here. |

Of the two which magnet2torrent.com didn't work with, I tried uploading the torrent file from $HOME/.config/transmission/torrents. One still gave the announce error, while the other worked.
This is the one that is giving the announce error:
http://seanconnell.net/electric-sheep-in-4k
Also, I noticed that some of the torrents I uploaded are listed as dead, with an incorrect tracker given (tracker.ccc.de). I tried deleting one of these magnet2torrent.com generated torrents and uploading the one in my Transmission folder, but instead I get the announce error for that one now. So I put the magnet2torrent.com file back and it works, but is still saying it's dead and listing the wrong tracker.
This is weird. Can anyone explain to me what is going on and why these files don't work the same everywhere?Last edited by hotaru at 03/01/2020 21:37:00

Thanks for detailing your process here.
I don't believe magnet only torrents work on the tracker currently, but probably will with an upgrade. |

Are you planning an upgrade? I was thinking of releasing torrents here but if HTTP is going to be change to HTTPS in the announce then I'll wait. |

There will be an upgrade, but there is no date set for it, so I would try to upload them now if possible. |

In regard to torrents erroneously showing as dead, make sure that you are uploading the torrent file here (I know of no way to do this with magnets) before seeding. If you seed before the file upload completes, it will break.
Not sure if this is related to the issue you are having. |

Are you saying that if I delete the non-dead torrents I added to LegitTorrents while my client is not running, wait a few hours, and add them back to LegitTorrents later that day, and nobody else is seeding them at the time, will they be shown as alive? Should I use the torrent files on LegitTorrents if that is the case?
EDIT: I dont know how we can guarantee nobody is seeding something popular like Kubuntu though, which is shown as dead.
EDIT #2: GIMP and Slackware are popular and they are being shown as alive...Last edited by hotaru at 10/02/2020 14:33:57

As I understand it (and I could be wrong) once a torrent's hash is first seen by LT and found to be already active, the LT tracker will either reject all tracker updates forever (making it always show as dead on the LT site), to mark it as "External" and require manual approval to be show in the list.

There are many which show as dead, just because the tracker broke. The first half dozen or so I uploaded always showed as dead, because I didn't do the process quite right; I started seeding before uploading the torrent file to LT.Last edited by David_b at 11/02/2020 17:38:46
