I get an "announce error" when I try and upload this torrent (both when using the torrent file in my Transmission folder, and when using a torrent file generated by magnet2torrent.com). It's 33 GB and in need of seeders so I hope someone joins in:

The LT tracker tends to reject tracker updates from torrents which were active prior to being uploaded. Could that be it?  You need to create the torrent, but not start seeding, upload it to LT, then start seeding.

Could it be this is the issue?

Edit: I don't even see it in the LT directory--did you upload the torrent file?

The torrent is over a year old and isn't mine. I was uploading it as external. It gave an "announce error" when trying to upload and it was never added to the list.

(I had this same error in the past when attempting to upload another torrent.)

Oh, ok.

Well I just tried to see what I could do, but TPB doesn't seem to provide torrent files. I don't think there is a way up add a torrent to LT using just a magnet link.  Is there a way to get or make the file?

I tried both with the torrent file stored in the Transmission config directory, as well as magnet2torrent.com, and both files gave that "announce error" when attempting to upload.

Ok, I converted it to a torrent file, tried uploading it, and had the same problem. It's not a tracker issue, it's that the site itself is rejecting the torrent file upload. I misunderstood.

Any ideas @en3r0 ?

EDIT: I edited the torrent file, and inserted the LT tracker as an announce destination.  It uploaded successfully, but I don't know yet if the tracker will work. See: http://www.legittorrents.info/index.php?page=torrent-details&id=aa5090e89590e7eb3d6de4c96d70239d4f2e9673

Yes, it seems to have worked.  I don't know why the site was rejecting the torrent file, but editing it apparently did the trick in this case. Thanks!
